Los Kitos Makes a sweet deal with Good Humor
Los Kitos has signed a multi-year
deal with the Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream Company. The first product that
will be created under the Good Humor logo is the Los Kitos Fruit Bar with
chili and tamarind. "We think a Los Kitos Chili & Tamarind Fruit
Bar will be a big hit with Hispanic kids because the characters are so well
known," said Erin Murray, Brand Manager of Kids' Novelties at Good Humor-Breyers.
"This opportunity is an exciting one for us, and we look forward to developing
a successful long-term partnership with Los Kitos that will enable us to bring
more fun and great-tasting frozen treats to kids."
The Good Humor Company has been pleasing kids throughout the U.S. for generations.
It was founded by entrepreneur Harry Burt, who owned a confectionery shop
in Youngstown, Ohio, which featured ice cream and candy. While developing
a formula for chocolate syrup to pour over ice cream, he came up with the
idea of creating ice cream bars on sticks. Harry Burt named the new confection
"Good Humor" because he had been raised to believe that an individual's
"good humor" was connected to one's taste buds.
The new Los Kitos Fruit Bar will be sold from the famous Good Humor trucks
as well as in convenience stores. Expressing her feelings about this new venture,
Los Kitos creator Martha Montoya said, "We are very excited to be joining
with Good Humor, because it will allow us to broaden our outreach to the growing
Latino consumer market. I am most grateful to Ingrid Otero-Smart, the president
of Mendoza, Dillon & Asociados advertising agency for bringing Los Kitos
and Good Humor together."
