Uno Productions and Farias
Productions have agreed to produce Los Kitos first music CD. The Los Kitos
CD, which is slated to be finished in the spring of 2002, is being co-written
by composer Gustavo Farias and Los Kitos creator Martha Montoya.
Gustavo Farias, a graduate of Boston's Berkeley College of Music and 37-year-old
wunderkind, boasts a full resume of commercial and network television music
production. In addition to being CEO of Farias Productions, an agency that produces
jingles and compositions for industry heavyweights, he also oversees Soundabout
Studios, which is considered the largest and most successful multiplex recording
studio for Latino artists in the United States.
Once the Los Kitos CD is complete, various record labels, such as Sony, Warner,
and Rhino Records, will be approached for distribution. "The CD will reflect
what Martha has been focusing on all these years," said Luis Medina of
Uno Productions. "So it is important that we contact companies who really
know about the world of children." Studio musicians and singers will lend
their talents to the CD, and the musical end product should contain as many
as 12 kid-friendly songs. Targeting the second-generation within a rapidly expanding
Latin market, most of the songs will be sung in Spanish, with the possible inclusion
of a couple of "Spanglish" or bilingual numbers.
